# Odenplan

**Odenplan** is a [plaza](/source/Plaza) located in the [district](/source/District) [Vasastaden](/source/Vasastaden,_Stockholm) in central [Stockholm](/source/Stockholm), [Sweden](/source/Sweden).

## History

Odenplan was named after the old [Norse](/source/Norse_mythology) god [Odin](/source/Odin). [Odenplan metro station](/source/Odenplan_metro_station), opened in 1952, and Stockholm Odenplan commuter train station on the [Stockholm commuter rail](/source/Stockholm_commuter_rail), opened in 2017, are located here. Odenplan was portrayed in the 1976 thriller film *[The Man on the Roof](/source/The_Man_on_the_Roof)*, in which a helicopter crashes in the plaza. It also appears in the opening credits to the 1999 film *[Vuxna människor](/source/Vuxna_m%C3%A4nniskor)*.

[Stockholm Public Library](/source/Stockholm_Public_Library) and Gustaf Vasa Church (*Gustaf Vasa kyrka*) are located nearby.[2]
