Oberwampach was a commune in the [canton](/source/cantons_of_Luxembourg) of [Clervaux](/source/Clervaux_(canton)) until 1 January 1978, when it was merged with the communes of [Asselborn](/source/Asselborn), [Boevange](/source/Boevange), and [Hachiville](/source/Hachiville) to form the new commune of Wincrange.
