# Obernkirchen

**Obernkirchen** (oːbɐnˈkɪʁçn̩) is a town in the district of [Schaumburg](/source/Schaumburg), in [Lower Saxony](/source/Lower_Saxony), [Germany](/source/Germany). It is situated approximately 8 km southwest of [Stadthagen](/source/Stadthagen), and 15 km east of [Minden](/source/Minden).

Obernkirchen is a small town in the shadows of the [Bückeberg](/source/B%C3%BCckeberg), a hill range in the [Weser Uplands](/source/Weser_Uplands). It overlooks the vast lower lying part of the old county of *Schaumburg Lippe*, now the district of [Schaumburg](/source/Schaumburg), with the town of [Bückeburg](/source/B%C3%BCckeburg) at its feet.
