**Obergesteln** is a village in the [municipality](/source/Municipalities_of_Switzerland) of [Obergoms](/source/Obergoms) in the district of [Goms](/source/Goms_(district)) in the [canton](/source/Cantons_of_Switzerland) of [Valais](/source/Valais) in [Switzerland](/source/Switzerland).

Obergesteln was an independent municipality until January 1, 2009, when it merged with [Oberwald](/source/Oberwald) and [Ulrichen](/source/Ulrichen) to form the municipality [Obergoms](/source/Obergoms).
