**Oasis** is a piece of [software](/source/Computer_software) developed by the [United States](/source/United_States) [Central Intelligence Agency](/source/Central_Intelligence_Agency) (CIA) that converts [audio](/source/Sound) signals such as [cellphone](/source/Cellular_telephone) calls and [television](/source/Television) and [radio](/source/Radio) [broadcasts](/source/Broadcasting) into readable and searchable text.[1] It is designed to [intelligently](/source/Artificial_intelligence) analyze an audio signal such as a cellphone call in order to identify and label each speaker (Male 1, Male 2, Female 1, and so forth). Oasis is also able to intelligently reference terms, such as by linking "[car bomb](/source/Car_bomb)" with "[terrorism](/source/Terrorism)". Oasis will eventually be able to recognize key languages such as [Arabic](/source/Arabic_language) and [Chinese](/source/Chinese_language), as well as [English](/source/English_language).
