**Omladinski košarkaški klub Spars**, commonly referred to as **OKK Spars** or **Spars Sarajevo**, is a men's professional [basketball](/source/Basketball) [club](/source/Sports_club) based in [Ilidža](/source/Ilid%C5%BEa), [Bosnia and Herzegovina](/source/Bosnia_and_Herzegovina). The club competes in the [Basketball Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina](/source/Basketball_Championship_of_Bosnia_and_Herzegovina) and the [ABA League Second Division](/source/ABA_League_Second_Division).

The club is owned and operated by Nihad Selimović and a small group of partners.[1][2]

## History

The club was founded in 2005 as **OKK Spars** and competed in lower-ranking divisions until joining 2nd-tier [A1 League](/source/A1_Liga_(Bosnia_and_Herzegovina)) in the 2011–12 season. After winning the [A1 League](/source/A1_Liga_(Bosnia_and_Herzegovina)#Champions) in the 2012–13 season, they were promoted to the [Basketball Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina](/source/Basketball_Championship_of_Bosnia_and_Herzegovina) for the 2013–14 season.

In December 2019, the club was merged with [Realway](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=KK_Realway&action=edit&redlink=1), and changed its name to **KK Spars Realway**.[3][4] However, on 31 December 2020, Spars and Realway parted their ways and the club changed its name back to **OKK Spars**.[5][6]

## Youth system

The club's [youth team](/source/Youth_system) competes in the [Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament](/source/Euroleague_Basketball_Next_Generation_Tournament). In the [2014–15 edition](/source/2014%E2%80%9315_Euroleague_Basketball_Next_Generation_Tournament), Spars were invited to play in [Madrid](/source/Madrid) for the tournament's final stage.
