# Number the Brave

***Number the Brave*** is the 11th studio album by rock band [Wishbone Ash](/source/Wishbone_Ash). It is the first album in the band's history recorded without founding bassist/vocalist [Martin Turner](/source/Martin_Turner). Turner was replaced (for this album only) by [John Wetton](/source/John_Wetton), formerly of [King Crimson](/source/King_Crimson) and [Uriah Heep](/source/Uriah_Heep_(band)). Also featured on *Number the Brave* was singer [Claire Hamill](/source/Claire_Hamill) as a backing vocalist, who would join Wishbone Ash on the 1981 tour to promote the album. Following "Vas Dis" on *[Pilgrimage](/source/Pilgrimage_(Wishbone_Ash_album))* and "Helpless" on *[Just Testing](/source/Just_Testing)*, the album featured only the third cover version released by the band on a studio album, [Smokey Robinson](/source/Smokey_Robinson)'s "[Get Ready](/source/Get_Ready_(The_Temptations_song))", previously a hit for [The Temptations](/source/The_Temptations).

The album peaked at No. 61 on the [UK Albums Chart](/source/UK_Albums_Chart).[1]
