'''''Norwegian Star''''' is a ''Dawn''-class [cruise ship](/source/cruise_ship) operated by [Norwegian Cruise Line](/source/Norwegian_Cruise_Line) (NCL).<ref name="fleetoverview" /> Ordered by and intended for [Star Cruises](/source/Star_Cruises), it was originally named ''SuperStar Libra'' before being transferred to NCL. ''Norwegian Star'' is a [Panamax](/source/Panamax) cruise ship; its {{Convert|294|m|ft|sp=us|adj=mid|-length|0}} and {{Convert|32.2|m|ft|sp=us|adj=mid|-[beam](/source/beam_(nautical))|1}} nears the limit for ships transiting the Panama Canal through the original set of locks. ''[Norwegian Dawn](/source/Norwegian_Dawn)'' is in the same class.

''Norwegian Star'' was built by the [Meyer Werft](/source/Meyer_Werft) shipyard in [Papenburg](/source/Papenburg), [Germany](/source/Germany). Construction began on ''Norwegian Star'' in 2000 and was completed in mid-2001, with the ship put into service later that year. Originally circumnavigating the [Hawaiian Islands](/source/Hawaiian_Islands) since its introduction, ''Norwegian Star'' was moved to the Pacific Coast of North America in 2004.
