**Northern Force** are a former [New Zealand netball](/source/Netball_in_New_Zealand) team based on the [North Shore](/source/North_Shore%2C_New_Zealand), [Auckland Region](/source/Auckland_Region). As a result, they were also known as either **North Harbour Force** or **North Shore Force**. Between 1998 and 2007, Force played in the [Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup](/source/National_Bank_Cup) league. In 2003 and 2007, they played in the grand final. Ahead of the [2008](/source/2008_ANZ_Championship_season) season, Force merged with [Auckland Diamonds](/source/Auckland_Diamonds) to form the new [ANZ Championship](/source/ANZ_Championship) team, [Northern Mystics](/source/Northern_Mystics).

## History

### Founding members

In 1998, together with, [Auckland Diamonds](/source/Auckland_Diamonds), [Bay of Plenty Magic](/source/Bay_of_Plenty_Magic), [Capital Shakers](/source/Capital_Shakers), [Canterbury Flames](/source/Canterbury_Flames), [Counties Manukau Cometz](/source/Counties_Manukau_Cometz), [Otago Rebels](/source/Otago_Rebels), [Southern Sting](/source/Southern_Sting), [Waikato Wildcats](/source/Waikato_Wildcats) and [Western Flyers](/source/Western_Flyers), Force, were founding members of the [Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup](/source/National_Bank_Cup) league.[1][2] Together with Cometz and Diamonds, Force were one of three teams from the [Auckland Region](/source/Auckland_Region) to play in the league. Due to poor ticket sales, the three teams faced early suggestions that they should merge.[3][4]

### Merger

Ahead of the [2008](/source/2008_ANZ_Championship_season) season, Diamonds merged with Northern Force to form the new [ANZ Championship](/source/ANZ_Championship) team, [Northern Mystics](/source/Northern_Mystics).[5][6][7]

## Home venues

Between 1998 and 2007, Force played out of the [North Shore Events Centre](/source/North_Shore_Events_Centre).[8]
