The **North Gaza Governorate** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): محافظة شمال غزة) is a [governorate](/source/Governorates_of_Palestine) of [Palestine](/source/Palestine) in the [Gaza Strip](/source/Gaza_Strip). According to the [Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics](/source/Palestinian_Central_Bureau_of_Statistics), the governorate had a population of 270,245 (7.2% of the Palestinian population) with 40,262 households in mid-year 2007 encompassing three municipalities, two rural districts and one refugee camp.[2]

North Gaza has seen numerous strikes during the [Gaza war](/source/Gaza_war), including attacks on the [Shadia Abu Ghazala School](/source/Attacks_on_schools_during_the_Israeli_invasion_of_Gaza#Shadia_Abu_Ghazala_School) and [Beit Lahia](/source/19_October_2024_Beit_Lahia_attacks).[3][4]
