# Normand Lapointe

**Normand Lapointe** (2 January 1939 – 22 October 2025) was a Canadian businessman and politician. Lapointe was a [Liberal party](/source/Liberal_Party_of_Canada) member of the [House of Commons of Canada](/source/House_of_Commons_of_Canada). He was an insurance agent by career.

## Life and career

Born in [Saint-Victor, Quebec](/source/Saint-Victor,_Quebec), Lapointe won Quebec's [Beauce electoral district](/source/Beauce_(electoral_district)) in the [1980 federal election](/source/1980_Canadian_federal_election) and served in the [32nd Canadian Parliament](/source/32nd_Canadian_Parliament). He left national politics after his defeat in the [1984 election](/source/1984_Canadian_federal_election) by [Gilles Bernier](/source/Gilles_Bernier_(Quebec_politician)) of the [Progressive Conservative party](/source/Progressive_Conservative_Party_of_Canada). Lapointe died on 22 October 2025, at the age of 86.[1]
