**Normand Jutras** (born 23 November 1948) is a [Canadian](/source/Canadians) lawyer and politician from [Quebec](/source/Quebec). From 1994 to 2007 he was an [MNA](/source/Member_of_the_National_Assembly) in the [National Assembly of Quebec](/source/National_Assembly_of_Quebec), representing the provincial electoral district of [Drummond](/source/Drummond_(provincial_electoral_district)) as a member of the [Parti Québécois](/source/Parti_Qu%C3%A9b%C3%A9cois).

## Life and career

Jutras was born in [Drummondville](/source/Drummondville). He earned a Bachelor of Arts at L'Externat Classique Saint Raphaël de Drummondville. He earned his law degree from [Université de Montréal](/source/Universit%C3%A9_de_Montr%C3%A9al) in 1971. He was admitted to the [Bar of Quebec](/source/Bar_of_Quebec) in 1972. He practiced privately at Jutras and Associates from 1971 to 1994. He served as Chairman of the Disciplinary Tribunal at [Drummondville Institution](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Drummondville_Institution&action=edit&redlink=1) from 1984 to 1993. Jutras represented the [Attorney General of Canada](/source/Attorney_General_of_Canada) in cases of drugs, foods and drugs, and other statutory laws from 1984 to 1994.

Jutras was elected to the National Assembly for the first time in the [1994 Quebec general election](/source/1994_Quebec_general_election). He was re-elected in the [1998 Quebec general election](/source/1998_Quebec_general_election) and in the [2003 Quebec general election](/source/2003_Quebec_general_election). Dion was defeated by [Sébastien Schneeberger](/source/S%C3%A9bastien_Schneeberger) of [ADC](/source/Action_d%C3%A9mocratique_du_Qu%C3%A9bec) in the [2007 Quebec general election](/source/2007_Quebec_general_election). Following his defeat, Jutras was involved in legal affairs for automotive companies with interests in India.[1]

Since March 6, 2013, Jutras has been the head of the Public Curator of Quebec, the government body charged with protecting incapacitated individuals.[2]
