# Noel Lucey

**Jeremiah Noel Lucey** (1939 – 19 July 2021) was an Irish [Gaelic footballer](/source/Gaelic_football). He played at club level with [Glenbeigh-Glencar](/source/Glenbeigh-Glencar_GAA), [Laune Rangers](/source/Laune_Rangers_GAA) and [Mid Kerry](/source/Mid_Kerry_GAA) and at inter-county level with the [Kerry senior football team](/source/Kerry_senior_football_team).

## Career

Born in [Caragh Lake](/source/Caragh_Lake), [County Kerry](/source/County_Kerry), Lucey first played Gaelic football with [Glenbeigh-Glencar](/source/Glenbeigh-Glencar_GAA) before transferring to the [Laune Rangers](/source/Laune_Rangers_GAA) club. He won a [County Championship](/source/Kerry_Senior_Football_Championship) title with divisional side [Mid Kerry](/source/Mid_Kerry_GAA) in 1967.[1] Having never played at [minor inter-county level](/source/All-Ireland_Minor_Football_Championship), Lucey first was included on the [Kerry senior football team](/source/Kerry_senior_football_team) during a number of tournament games in early 1962. He ended the season with an [All-Ireland Championship](/source/All-Ireland_Senior_Football_Championship) title after lining out at centre-back in the [final](/source/1962_All-Ireland_Senior_Football_Championship_Final) defeat of [Roscommon](/source/Roscommon_GAA). His brother, [Jimmy Lucey](/source/Jimmy_Lucey), also lined out that day, while a third brother, [Vincent Lucey](/source/Vincent_Lucey), played in the [1965 All-Ireland final](/source/1965_All-Ireland_Senior_Football_Championship_Final) defeat by [Galway](/source/Galway_GAA).[2] Lucey's inter-county career ended after just two seasons, by which stage he had also secured a [National League](/source/National_Football_League_(Ireland)) title.

## Death

Lucey died in [Glenflesk](/source/Glenflesk), [County Kerry](/source/County_Kerry) on 19 July 2021.[3]
