**Noakhali-5** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh).

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses [Companiganj Upazila](/source/Companiganj_Upazila%2C_Noakhali) and [Kabirhat Upazila](/source/Kabirhat_Upazila).[1]

## History

The constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973.

Ahead of the [2018 general election](/source/2018_Bangladeshi_general_election), the Election Commission reduced the boundaries of the constituency by removing two [union parishads](/source/Union_parishad) of [Noakhali Sadar Upazila](/source/Noakhali_Sadar_Upazila): Ashwadia and Niazpur.[2][1][3]
