"**No Point**" is a [song](/source/Song) by [avant-garde](/source/Experimental_music) [band](/source/Band_(music)) [King Missile](/source/King_Missile). It appears on the band's [1990](/source/1990_in_music) [album](/source/Album) *[Mystical Shit](/source/Mystical_Shit).*

## Content

In "No Point," a [psychedelic rock](/source/Psychedelic_rock) track with prominent [lead guitar](/source/Lead_guitar), [frontman](/source/Lead_vocalist) [John S. Hall](/source/John_S._Hall) sings a list of states and activities to which "[there is no point](/source/Nihilism)." The list includes answering the [telephone](/source/Telephone), opening the [mail](/source/Mail), using [drugs](/source/Drug), *not* using drugs, and [life](/source/Life) and [death](/source/Death) themselves.[1]

In the [liner notes](/source/Liner_notes) of the [compilation](/source/Compilation_album) *[Mystical Shit & Fluting on the Hump](/source/Mystical_Shit_%26_Fluting_on_the_Hump),* Hall writes of "No Point":

These [lyrics](/source/Lyrics) were taken from a [novel](/source/Novel) I started writing but never finished, about a guy who decides to never leave his [apartment](/source/Apartment) due to extreme [depression](/source/Major_depressive_disorder). In the novel Elliot, the [protagonist](/source/Protagonist), writes a quasi-[suicide note](/source/Suicide_note) to Eliot, the [narrator](/source/Narrator). That letter is the words to this song.[2]

## Music video

The [video](/source/Music_video) for "No Point" was directed for $1200 by [Benton Bainbridge](/source/Benton_Bainbridge).[3] In the video, Hall plays a "seeker" who is repeatedly visited in his [bedroom](/source/Bedroom) by an [enigmatic](/source/Riddle) "[seer](/source/Clairvoyance)," played by Andrea Cook. The seer presents the seeker with an assortment of objects, such as an [alarm clock](/source/Alarm_clock), a [jacket](/source/Jacket), and a [wind-up toy](/source/Wind-up_toy), which he invariably [throws out his window](/source/Defenestration) and onto the [sidewalk](/source/Sidewalk) below, on which the other members of King Missile are playing. In between visits from the seer, the seeker uses a [crystal ball](/source/Crystal_ball) to view various [mystical](/source/Mysticism) and/or [psychedelic](/source/Psychedelia) [images](/source/Image). At the end of the video, the seer appears to have achieved some form of [enlightenment](/source/Nirvana).[4]

Hall thinks the video "sucked."[2]
