**Ninh Bình Football Club** ([Vietnamese](/source/Vietnamese_language): *Câu lạc bộ bóng đá Ninh Bình*), formerly known as **Phù Đổng** and **Phù Đổng Ninh Bình**, is a Vietnamese professional football club based in [Ninh Bình](/source/Ninh_B%C3%ACnh_province), [Vietnam](/source/Vietnam). The club currently competes at the [V.League 1](/source/V.League_1), the top tier of Vietnamese football after promotion from the [2024–25 V.League 2](/source/2024%E2%80%9325_V.League_2).

## History

### Phù Đổng era

Phù Đổng was established in [Hanoi](/source/Hanoi) in 2015, competing at the [Vietnamese Football League Second Division](/source/Vietnamese_Football_League_Second_Division).[1] Before the 2017 season, Phù Đổng had recruited former national team [defender](/source/Defender_(association_football)) [Vũ Như Thành](/source/V%C5%A9_Nh%C6%B0_Th%C3%A0nh) as captain, and persuaded midfielder [Cao Sỹ Cường](/source/Cao_S%E1%BB%B9_C%C6%B0%E1%BB%9Dng) to continue playing. At the same time, the team also announced information about the new major sponsor, Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam, with a large amount of funding.[2][3]

In 2021, the club promoted to the [V.League 2](/source/2021_V.League_2). Due to their home stadium Thanh Trì in Hanoi not meeting the league's capacity requirements, the club switched its home stadium to the [Ninh Bình Stadium](/source/Ninh_B%C3%ACnh_Stadium) in [Ninh Bình province](/source/Ninh_B%C3%ACnh_province) from the [2023 season](/source/2023_V.League_2).[4]

### Relocation to Ninh Bình and first successes

In the [2023–24 season](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_V.League_2), the club permanently moved its location to Ninh Bình, thus changing the team name to the current **Phù Đổng Ninh Bình**.[5] In the following season, after [LPBank](/source/LPBank) became the main shareholder of the club, its entire players and staffs were switched with [LPBank HCMC](/source/LPBank_HCMC_FC).[6] Following LPBank's big investments to recruit quality players to the team such as [Nguyễn Hoàng Đức](/source/Nguy%E1%BB%85n_Ho%C3%A0ng_%C4%90%E1%BB%A9c), [Đặng Văn Lâm](/source/%C4%90%E1%BA%B7ng_V%C4%83n_L%C3%A2m) or [Đinh Thanh Bình](/source/%C4%90inh_Thanh_B%C3%ACnh), in [2024–25 season](/source/2024%E2%80%9325_V.League_2), Phù Đổng Ninh Bình secured promotion to the [V.League 1](/source/V.League_1) for the first time in their history after an undefeated season at the V.League 2. In June 2025, Phù Đổng Ninh Bình changed their name to **Ninh Bình**.[7] On 3 July 2025, the club announced the arrival of their manager, Spanishman Gerard Albadalejo. The club also released their new logo, which was inspired from the logo of the former [Vissai Ninh Bình](/source/Vissai_Ninh_B%C3%ACnh_FC).[8]
