**Nieuw-Milligen** is a [hamlet](/source/Hamlet_(place)) in the [municipality](/source/Municipalities_of_the_Netherlands) of [Apeldoorn](/source/Apeldoorn) in the [province](/source/Provinces_of_the_Netherlands) of [Gelderland](/source/Gelderland), the [Netherlands](/source/Netherlands). Nieuw-Milligen is best known for [Air Operations Control Station Nieuw-Milligen](/source/Air_Operations_Control_Station_Nieuw-Milligen), a military [air traffic control](/source/Air_traffic_control) centre in the Netherlands. The base started out as a small military airfield in 1913 and remained in use as such until 1940, when it was destroyed by the Dutch military to prevent it from being used by the [Germans](/source/Germany).[3] It is also home to a [Landal Greenparks](/source/Landal_Greenparks) [holiday village](/source/Holiday_village).

It was first mentioned in 1849 as Nieuw Milligen to differentiate from Millingen which has become [Oud-Milligen](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Oud-Milligen&action=edit&redlink=1) [[nl](https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oud-Milligen)]. The name means "settlement of people of Milo (person)".[4]
