**Nido Creek** is a [tributary](/source/Tributary) of [Kakiddi Creek](/source/Kakiddi_Creek) and part of the [Stikine River](/source/Stikine_River) [watershed](/source/Drainage_basin) in northwest part of the [province](/source/Provinces_and_territories_of_Canada) of [British Columbia](/source/British_Columbia), [Canada](/source/Canada).[1] It flows from [Mount Edziza](/source/Mount_Edziza) generally east for roughly 11 km (6.8 mi)[4] to empty into Nuttlude Lake, an expansion of [Kakiddi Creek](/source/Kakiddi_Creek), a tributary of the [Klastline River](/source/Klastline_River), which in turn is a tributary of the Stikine River.

Nido Creek's mean annual [discharge](/source/Discharge_(hydrology)) is estimated at 0.375 m3/s (13.2 cu ft/s). Its [watershed](/source/Drainage_basin) covers 19.2 km2 (7.4 sq mi) and is entirely within [Mount Edziza Provincial Park](/source/Mount_Edziza_Provincial_Park) and [Tenh Dẕetle Conservancy](/source/Tenh_D%E1%BA%95etle_Conservancy). The watershed's [land cover](/source/Land_cover) is classified as 33.8% [barren](/source/Barren_vegetation), 30.1% [conifer forest](/source/Conifer), 14.8% [herbaceous](/source/Herbaceous_plant), 13.7% [shrubland](/source/Shrubland), 7.3% [snow](/source/Snow)/[glacier](/source/Glacier), and small amounts of other cover.[5]

The mouth of Nido Creek is located about 47 km (29 mi) southeast of [Telegraph Creek](/source/Telegraph_Creek), British Columbia, about 85 km (53 mi) south of [Dease Lake](/source/Dease_Lake), British Columbia, and about 245 km (152 mi) southeast of [Juneau, Alaska](/source/Juneau%2C_Alaska).[4]

Nido Creek is in [Mount Edziza Provincial Park](/source/Mount_Edziza_Provincial_Park) and the [Tenh Dẕetle Conservancy](/source/Tenh_D%E1%BA%95etle_Conservancy), both of which lie within the traditional territory of the [Tahltan First Nation](/source/Tahltan_First_Nation), of the [Tahltan](/source/Tahltan) people.[6][7]

The name "Nido" is recorded as being a Tahltan word for "white man". It is the location of a number of mineral claims which were staked before this creek was given provincial park status.[1]

## Geography

Nido Creek originates from the many glaciers on the east side of Mount Edziza and [Nanook Dome](/source/Nanook_Dome). From its source, Nido Creek flows east for about 11 km (6.8 mi)[4] before emptying into Nuttlude Lake,[8] an expansion of [Kakiddi Creek](/source/Kakiddi_Creek). The mouth of Nido Creek is just north of the mouth of [Tennaya Creek](/source/Tennaya_Creek).[9] Nido Creek's watershed is within the [Mount Edziza volcanic complex](/source/Mount_Edziza_volcanic_complex).[2][10]
