Irish jockey

**Niall "Slippers" Madden** (born 11 November 1985) is a retired [Irish](/source/Ireland) [jockey](/source/Jockey) who rode the racehorse [Numbersixvalverde](/source/Numbersixvalverde) to win the [2006 Grand National](/source/2006_Grand_National) steeplechase at [Aintree Racecourse](/source/Aintree_Racecourse).[1]

Madden's nickname is "Slippers", as a comparison with his father [Niall Madden](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Niall_Madden_(jockey,_born_1958)&action=edit&redlink=1), also a jockey, whose nickname was "Boots". He rode for [Noel Meade](/source/Noel_Meade) and won the 2006 [Christmas Hurdle](/source/Christmas_Hurdle) for Meade on Jazz Messenger. Madden retired as a jockey after riding at [Punchestown](/source/Punchestown_Racecourse) on 31 December 2020.[2]
