The '''Nexaer LS1''' is an American [light-sport aircraft](/source/light-sport_aircraft), under development by [Nexaer](/source/Nexaer) of [Peyton, Colorado](/source/Peyton%2C_Colorado), first flown on 16 October 2006. The aircraft is intended to be supplied as a complete ready-to-fly-aircraft.<ref name="WDLA11">Bayerl, Robby; Martin Berkemeier; et al: ''World Directory of Leisure Aviation 2011-12'', page 66. WDLA UK, Lancaster UK, 2011. ==Design and development==
The LS1 was designed to comply with the US light-sport aircraft rules. It features a cantilever [low-wing](/source/low-wing), a two-seats-in-[side-by-side configuration](/source/side-by-side_configuration) enclosed cockpit, fixed [tricycle landing gear](/source/tricycle_landing_gear) and a single engine in [tractor configuration](/source/tractor_configuration). The LS1 has a distinctively curved fuselage.<ref name="WDLA11" />

The aircraft is made from composites. Its {{convert|29.5|ft|m|1|abbr=on}} span wing has an area of {{convert|124|sqft|m2|abbr=on}} and for simplicity has no [flaps](/source/Flap_(aircraft)). Standard engines available are the {{convert|100|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [Rotax 912ULS](/source/Rotax_912ULS), {{convert|85|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [Jabiru 2200](/source/Jabiru_2200), {{convert|120|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [Jabiru 3300](/source/Jabiru_3300), {{convert|100|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [Continental O-200](/source/Continental_O-200) and the {{convert|108|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [Lycoming O-235](/source/Lycoming_O-235) [four-stroke](/source/four-stroke) powerplants. The cockpit is {{convert|54|in|cm|0|abbr=on}} in width.<ref name="WDLA11" />
