**Newhurst Quarry** is a 9.5 hectares (23 acres) geological [Site of Special Scientific Interest](/source/Site_of_Special_Scientific_Interest) on the southern outskirts of [Shepshed](/source/Shepshed) in [Leicestershire](/source/Leicestershire).[1][2] It is a [Geological Conservation Review](/source/Geological_Conservation_Review) site.[3]

This is the only British site where [hypogene](/source/Hypogene) mineralisation, deep in the earth, has been weathered during the [Triassic](/source/Triassic), around 225 million years ago. It is also the only British site to have the minerals [coulsonite](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Coulsonite&action=edit&redlink=1) and [vesignieite](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Vesignieite&action=edit&redlink=1).[4]

The site is private land with no public access.
