'''Newcomb Bay''' is a sheltered [bay](/source/bay) about 1 mile (1.6&nbsp;km) in extent, between [Clark Peninsula](/source/Clark_Peninsula) and [Bailey Peninsula](/source/Bailey_Peninsula_(Antarctica)) in the [Windmill Islands](/source/Windmill_Islands) area.<ref name = "gn6636054">[http://www.geonames.org/6636054/kilby%20island.html Newcomb Bay - Geonames]</ref>

First mapped from [U.S. Navy Operation Highjump](/source/U.S._Navy_Operation_Highjump) aerial photographs taken in February 1947. In February 1957, [Willis L. Tressler](/source/Willis_L._Tressler), oceanographer, led a party from the USS Glacier (AGB-4) to survey the bay and record depth soundings. Name suggested by Tressler for Lieutenant [Robert C. Newcomb](/source/Robert_C._Newcomb), [U.S. Navy](/source/U.S._Navy), navigator of the Glacier and member of the survey party.

On the northern side of Newcomb Bay, [Wilkes Station](/source/Wilkes_Station) was located, while the southern side is the location of [Casey Station](/source/Casey_Station).
