'''Neulingen''' ({{IPA|de|ˈnɔʏlɪŋən|-|De-Neulingen.ogg}}) is a municipality in the [Enz district](/source/Enz_(district)) in [Baden-Württemberg](/source/Baden-W%C3%BCrttemberg) in [Germany](/source/Germany). It was created on 1 January 1974 from the three independent villages of Bauschlott, Göbrichen, and Nußbaum. It is located on the [Bertha Benz Memorial Route](/source/Bertha_Benz_Memorial_Route).

==History==
Bauschlott and Göbrichen were long-time possessions of the [Margraviate](/source/Margraviate_of_Baden) and later [Grand Duchy of Baden](/source/Grand_Duchy_of_Baden), but Nußbaum belonged to first [Herrenalb Abbey](/source/Herrenalb_Abbey) and then the [Kingdom of Württemberg](/source/Kingdom_of_W%C3%BCrttemberg) until being ceded to Baden by treaty on 17 October 1806. Upon annexation, Nußbaum joined the other two towns in the district of [Stein](/source/K%C3%B6nigsbach-Stein). The three were reassigned on 25 May 1821 to the district of [Pforzheim](/source/Pforzheim), which became {{ill|Landkreis Pforzheim|de}} on 25 June 1939. On 1 January 1973, as part of the {{ill|1973 Baden-Württemberg district reform|de|Kreisreform Baden-Württemberg 1973}}, the [Enz district](/source/Enzkreis) was created and Bauschlott, Nußbaum, and Göbrichen were assigned to it. The next year, the three towns merged to form the municipality of Neulingen. The latter town changed its name to Neulingen, after a nearby village named neither Nidlingen or Neidlingen that had ceased to exist in the 14th century.<ref name=LEO-BW>{{cite web|title=Neulingen|url=https://www.leo-bw.de/web/guest/detail-gis/-/Detail/details/ORT/labw_ortslexikon/7164/Neulingen|website=[LEO-BW](/source/LEO-BW)|publisher=[Baden-Württemberg](/source/Baden-W%C3%BCrttemberg)|language=de|accessdate=23 June 2020}}</ref>

==Geography==
The municipality (''[Gemeinde](/source/Municipalities_of_Germany)'') of Neulingen covers {{convert|23.19|km2|mi2|sp=us}} of the [Enz district](/source/Enzkreis) of [Baden-Württemberg](/source/Baden-W%C3%BCrttemberg), a [state](/source/States_of_Germany) of the [Federal Republic of Germany](/source/Federal_Republic_of_Germany). It is located entirely within the [Kraichgau](/source/Kraichgau), specifically on the {{ill|Bauschlotter Plateau|de|Bauschlotter Platte}}, and so its geography is made up by the region's characteristic [loess](/source/loess)-coated, forested and [karstified](/source/karstified) hills of [muschelkalk](/source/muschelkalk). Elevation above sea level within the municipal area varies from a low of {{convert|232|m|ft|sp=us}} [Normalnull](/source/Normalnull) (NN) to a high of {{convert|365|m|ft|sp=us}} NN.<ref name=LEO-BW/>

===Nature reserves===
The Bauschlotter Schlosspark, {{ill|Neulingen sinkholes|de|Neulinger Dolinen}}, and {{ill|Bauschlotter Au|de}} [Federally-protected nature reserve](/source/Naturschutzgebiet)s are located within Neulingen's municipal area.<ref name=LEO-BW/>

==Coat of arms==
Neulingen's municipal coat of arms displays a [field](/source/Field_(heraldry)) of [red](/source/Gules) crossed by a diagonal [gold](/source/Or_(heraldry)) [bar](/source/Bar_(heraldry)), a reference to the [House of Zähringen](/source/House_of_Z%C3%A4hringen), who ruled the Margraviate and later Grand Duchy of Baden, though the [tincture](/source/Tincture_(heraldry)) is inverted. The items on this pattern are references to the three towns that merged to form Neulingen. The two [black](/source/Sable_(heraldry)) diamonds inside the bar are from Nußbaum, while the golden 'G' above it and the [sester](/source/sester) below it are from Göbrichen and Bauschlott respectively. The municipal coat of arms was approved by the Enz district office on 15 June 1984.<ref name=LEO-BW/>
