**Netrokona-1** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh).

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses [Durgapur](/source/Durgapur_Upazila%2C_Netrokona) and [Kalmakanda](/source/Kalmakanda_Upazila) upazilas.[1][2]

## History

The constituency was created in 1984 from the Mymensingh-12 constituency when the former Mymensingh District was split into four districts: [Mymensingh](/source/Mymensingh_District), [Sherpur](/source/Sherpur_District), [Netrokona](/source/Netrokona_District), and [Kishoreganj](/source/Kishoreganj_District).[3]

Ahead of the [2008 general election](/source/2008_Bangladeshi_general_election), the [Election Commission](/source/Bangladesh_Election_Commission) redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the [2001 Bangladesh census](/source/2001_Bangladesh_census).[4] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[5]
