'''Neil Hein''' (born 7 June 1963) is a former [Australian rules football](/source/Australian_rules_football)er who played with the [Brisbane Bears](/source/Brisbane_Bears) in the [Victorian Football League](/source/Australian_Football_League) (VFL).

Hein played in a [South Australian National Football League](/source/South_Australian_National_Football_League) (SANFL) premiership for [Norwood](/source/Norwood_Football_Club) in 1984 and played 140 SANFL game with the club during the 1980s. It was from there that he was signed by Brisbane, who secured his services by using a pre-draft selection prior to the [1987 VFL season](/source/1987_VFL_season).

Hein had the distinction of playing in Brisbane's first ever match, against [North Melbourne](/source/North_Melbourne_Football_Club), which they won by 33 points.<ref name=AFLTables>[http://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/N/Neil_Hein.html AFL Tables: Neil Hein]</ref> From his four disposals he kicked two goals to be one of six multiple goal-kickers for the Bears.<ref name=AFLTables/> A [ruckman](/source/Ruckman_(Australian_rules_football_position)), Hein did not always play in his preferred position due to the presence of [Mark Mickan](/source/Mark_Mickan) in 1987 and spent a lot of time up forward during his eight appearances that season.<ref name=AFLTables/> He played seven further games in [1988](/source/1988_VFL_season), some of them as first ruckman.<ref name=AFLTables/>
