**Neighbornode** is a [captive portal](/source/Captive_portal) on a residential [Wi-Fi](/source/Wi-Fi) [hotspot](/source/Hotspot_(Wi-Fi)), containing a [message board](/source/Message_board). It is designed to help neighbors who share an internet connection know each other better.[1]

The message board can only be accessed within range of the hotspot. Individual Neighbornodes can be linked together to create a [supernode](/source/Supernode_(networking)), vaguely like [Fidonet](/source/Fidonet). It is implemented as an [alternative firmware](/source/WRT54G#Third-party_firmware_projects) for the [Linksys WRT54G](/source/Linksys_WRT54G) router.

The project was created by John Geraci of [Interactive Telecommunications Program](/source/Interactive_Telecommunications_Program),[2][3] who also created [Grafedia](/source/Grafedia).
