On 29 January 2007, she reached her best singles ranking of world number 196. On 22 May 2006, she peaked at world number 107 in the doubles rankings. ==Personal life==
Neha retired from professional tennis in 2008 and graduated from Princeton with a degree in sociology in 2012. In 2016 she got married. She co-founded a non-profit organization South Asians in Sports.

Neha is one of five sisters (two professional) who all played tennis. Her father, Mahesh, is a serial entrepreneur and managed her tennis career; her mother, Madhu, is a homemaker; and she has two older sisters, Diya and [Shikha Uberoi](/source/Shikha_Uberoi) (also a professional tennis player), and two younger sisters, [Nikita](/source/Nikita_Uberoi) (also a professional tennis player) and Nimita. She speaks [Hindi](/source/Hindi), English and Spanish. Neha loves to visit relatives in [Mumbai](/source/Mumbai), India. She is the niece of actor [Suresh Oberoi](/source/Suresh_Oberoi) and first cousin of actors [Vivek Oberoi](/source/Vivek_Oberoi) and [Akshay Oberoi](/source/Akshay_Oberoi).

==Tennis career==
Uberoi began playing at age 5 and at age 9 moved with her sister, [Shikha Uberoi](/source/Shikha_Uberoi) to attend Saddlebrook Tennis Academy in [Tampa, Florida](/source/Tampa%2C_Florida). At 16 years old, she attended her freshman year at [Princeton University](/source/Princeton_University), where she was All-Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2003 and named an All-American in singles and doubles the same year. She took a 6-year leave of absence from [Princeton University](/source/Princeton_University) to play on the [World Tennis Association tour](/source/WTA_Tour).

Neha started playing on the [ITF Women's Circuit](/source/ITF_Women's_Circuit) in the year 2000, and played exclusively in ITF tournaments until 2003, with limited results. She played in her first [WTA](/source/WTA_Tour)-level tournament at the [Advanta Championships of Philadelphia](/source/Advanta_Championships_of_Philadelphia) in October 2003, losing to [Sandra Klösel](/source/Sandra_Kl%C3%B6sel) in the first qualifying round. She next participated in (and won her first match at) a [WTA](/source/WTA_Tour) tournament in February 2004 at the [Hyderabad Open](/source/2004_AP_Tourism_Hyderabad_Open), where she defeated [Lauren Breadmore](/source/Lauren_Breadmore), [Darija Jurak](/source/Darija_Jurak) and sister [Shikha](/source/Shikha_Uberoi) in the qualifying, only to lose to [Maria Kirilenko](/source/Maria_Kirilenko) in the main draw. In February, at the [Abierto Mexicano Telcel](/source/2005_Abierto_Mexicano_Telcel), she won against [Edina Gallovits](/source/Edina_Gallovits) and [Ruxandra Dragomir](/source/Ruxandra_Dragomir), but couldn't win in the qualifying competition against [Julie Ditty](/source/Julie_Ditty). She participated in the [Miami Masters'](/source/2005_NASDAQ-100_Open) main draw for the first time as a wildcard, losing to [Galina Voskoboeva](/source/Galina_Voskoboeva). She also couldn't qualify for the [Bausch & Lomb Championships](/source/2005_Bausch_%26_Lomb_Championships) and the [Family Circle Cup](/source/2005_Family_Circle_Cup), and had mixed results on the rest of the [clay court](/source/clay_court) season (in ITF tournaments). After playing in numerous ITF events, she played a handful of tournaments at the North American [hard court](/source/hard_court) swing. She managed to reach the qualifying finals of both the [Cincinnati Masters](/source/2005_Western_%26_Southern_Financial_Group_Masters) and the [Bank of the West Classic](/source/2005_Bank_of_the_West_Classic), but couldn't advance to the main draw. With opening losses at both the [JPMorgan Chase Open](/source/2005_JPMorgan_Chase_Open) and [Canadian Open](/source/2005_Rogers_Cup), she went into the [2005 US Open](/source/2005_US_Open_(tennis)). She had a strong win against [Shiho Hisamatsu](/source/Shiho_Hisamatsu) in the qualifying round one, but was defeated by [Jennifer Hopkins](/source/Jennifer_Hopkins) after that. For the rest of the [season](/source/2005_WTA_Tour), she only won one match across four [WTA](/source/WTA_Tour) tournaments, losing early in the [Sunfeast Open](/source/2005_Sunfeast_Open), the [Guangzhou Open](/source/2005_Guangzhou_International_Women's_Open), the [Tashkent Open](/source/2005_Tashkent_Open), and the [Hasselt Open](/source/2005_Gaz_de_France_Stars). Neha did have a successful year in doubles, reaching two WTA finals partnering sister [Shikha](/source/Shikha_Uberoi).

The [Copa Colsanitas](/source/2006_Copa_Colsanitas_Seguros_Bol%C3%ADvar) was her first [WTA](/source/WTA_Tour) tournament of the [2006 season](/source/2006_WTA_Tour) she played in. She had three wins over [Carla Tiene](/source/Carla_Tiene), [Estefanía Craciún](/source/Estefan%C3%ADa_Craci%C3%BAn), and [Tina Schiechtl](/source/Tina_Schiechtl), but fell to [Sara Errani](/source/Sara_Errani) in the main draw. Later, in March 2006, she also qualified for the [Qatar Open](/source/2006_Qatar_Ladies_Open), where she also lost in round one (to [Marion Bartoli](/source/Marion_Bartoli)). She did advance to the second main round of the [Family Circle Cup](/source/2006_Family_Circle_Cup) as a wildcard, where she beat [Lisa Raymond](/source/Lisa_Raymond). Neha began [2007](/source/2007_WTA_Tour) at the [Australian Open](/source/2007_Australian_Open), where she overcame [Viktoria Kutuzova](/source/Viktoria_Kutuzova) in round one qualifying; next, she would ultimately lose to [Sandra Záhlavová](/source/Sandra_Z%C3%A1hlavov%C3%A1). She also failed to qualify for the [Pattaya Open](/source/2007_Pattaya_Women's_Open), the [Sony Ericsson International](/source/2007_Sony_Ericsson_International), the [Dubai Tennis Championships](/source/2007_Dubai_Tennis_Championships), and the [Qatar Ladies Open](/source/2007_Qatar_Ladies_Open). After playing in a few ITF tournaments, she also couldn't qualify for the [Estoril Open](/source/2007_Estoril_Open) and the [Prague Open](/source/2007_ECM_Prague_Open) later that year during the [clay court](/source/clay_court) season. However, she managed to turn around a season of early losses to win three matches (two in qualifying, one in the main draw – entered as a Lucky Loser) at the [Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem](/source/2007_Grand_Prix_SAR_La_Princesse_Lalla_Meryem) in May (defeating [Kelly Liggan](/source/Kelly_Liggan), [Leanne Baker](/source/Leanne_Baker), and [Sorana Cîrstea](/source/Sorana_C%C3%AErstea)). Until the [Sunfeast Open](/source/2007_Sunfeast_Open), she had mediocre results on both the ITF and WTA tours but managed to make the main draw there, losing to [Maria Kirilenko](/source/Maria_Kirilenko), which would turn out to be her last singles match on the [WTA Tour](/source/WTA_Tour).
