'''Nee Soon Constituency''' was a [single member constituency](/source/Single_Member_Constituency) in the [northern](/source/North_Region%2C_Singapore) area in Singapore that was created in [1959 general elections](/source/Singaporean_general_election%2C_1959) and ceased to exist prior to [1988 general elections](/source/Singaporean_general_election%2C_1988).

==History==
Nee Soon was one of the rural areas in the [north](/source/North_Region%2C_Singapore) of [Singapore](/source/Singapore). At its inception in 1959, there were only 8,694 voters even including present-day [Ang Mo Kio](/source/Ang_Mo_Kio) town, whereas wards nearer to the [city centre](/source/City_Business_District) such as [Kreta Ayer](/source/Kreta_Ayer) had 14,173 voters in a much smaller area.

This ward was finally dissolved prior to the [1988 general elections](/source/Singaporean_general_election%2C_1988), with most of the ward forming [Nee Soon South SMC](/source/Nee_Soon_South_SMC) consisting of [Khatib](/source/Khatib_MRT_station) and [Yio Chu Kang](/source/Yio_Chu_Kang) (near [Yio Chu Kang MRT station](/source/Yio_Chu_Kang_MRT_station)), and the portion in [Yishun](/source/Yishun) Central being renamed [Nee Soon Central SMC](/source/Nee_Soon_Central_SMC) where former opposition MP [Cheo Chai Chen](/source/Cheo_Chai_Chen) made his debut there. The remainder of this constituency was carved into 2 sub-divisions of [Chong Pang](/source/Chong_Pang) and [Nee Soon East](/source/Nee_Soon_East_SMC). The latter ward was a part of [Sembawang GRC](/source/Sembawang_GRC) until the [2001 general elections](/source/Singaporean_general_election%2C_2001) which saw the [Workers' Party](/source/Workers'_Party_of_Singapore) contest there.
