# Ned Murphy

**Edward 'Ned' Murphy** was an [Irish](/source/Irish_people) sportsperson in the 1880s. A native of [Thurles](/source/Thurles), [County Tipperary](/source/County_Tipperary), he played hurling with his local [Thurles Blues](/source/Thurles_Sarsfields_GAA) club and was a member of the [Tipperary](/source/Tipperary_GAA) senior inter-county team that won the very first [All-Ireland](/source/All-Ireland_Senior_Hurling_Championship) title in 1887.
