# Necyria

***Necyria*** is a [Neotropical](/source/Neotropical) [metalmark](/source/Riodinidae) butterfly [genus](/source/Genus).

There are three species which all have colourful [iridescent markings](/source/Iridescence). They are forest insects. Some are part of [mimetic](/source/Mimicry) complexes.

The genus was erected by [John Obadiah Westwood](/source/John_Obadiah_Westwood) in 1851. The subspecies shown in the taxobox is named in Westwood's honour.
