The **Neales River** is a watercourse located in the [Far North](/source/Far_North_(South_Australia)) region of the Australian state of [South Australia](/source/South_Australia).

The river is a tributary of [Lake Eyre](/source/Lake_Eyre). The [Central Australia Railway](/source/Central_Australia_Railway), on which [The Ghan](/source/The_Ghan) passenger train operated until 1980, crossed the Neales River floodplain over [Algebuckina Bridge](/source/Algebuckina_Bridge).

Neales River was named by explorer [John McDouall Stuart](/source/John_McDouall_Stuart) after businessman and politician [John Bentham Neales](/source/John_Bentham_Neales).[4]
