# Ndam language

**Ndam**, also known as **Dam** and **Ndamm**, is an [Afro-Asiatic](/source/Afro-Asiatic_languages) language spoken in the southwestern [Chadian](/source/Chad) prefectures of [Tandjilé](/source/Tandjile_Prefecture) and [Lai](/source/Lai_Prefecture). Most of the speakers generally practice traditional religions, [Islam](/source/Islam), or [Christianity](/source/Christianity). There are two dialects of Ndam—northern and southern, respectively—Ndam Dik, and Ndam-Ndam.[1]
