# Nasuhi

The **Nasuhi** are a sub-order of the [Khalwati](/source/Khalwati_order) [Sufi](/source/Sufi) order. Their founder, [Pir Nasuhi](/source/Pir_Nasuhi), was a prolific author who wrote a number of works, including a commentary upon the [Qur'an](/source/Qur'an). He died and was buried at his *[Özbekler Tekkesi](https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%96zbekler_Tekkesi)* in [Üsküdar](/source/%C3%9Csk%C3%BCdar), [Istanbul](/source/Istanbul). The order was not a widespread order and had only a number of *[tekke](/source/Zawiyya)*s in [Istanbul](/source/Istanbul) and [Bursa](/source/Bursa).[1]

The centre of the Nasuhi order was in Dogancilar, a sub district of [Üsküdar](/source/%C3%9Csk%C3%BCdar), [Istanbul](/source/Istanbul), where the grand [Sheikh](/source/Sheikh) of the order sat at the Nasuhi Tekke.

When [Turkey](/source/Turkey) became a republic all *tekkes* were closed. The Nasuhi *tekke* was later opened in the form of a *[mosque](/source/Mosque)*, although much of the rear of the *tekke* complex remains closed to the public. The resting place of Sheikh Nasuhi remains a place of pilgrimage for pious [Muslims](/source/Muslims) in [Turkey](/source/Turkey), given he was one of the lesser known [Muslim](/source/Muslim) [saints](/source/Saints) in [Istanbul](/source/Istanbul) (especially in comparison to [Aziz Mahmud Hudayi](/source/Aziz_Mahmud_Hudayi)). He is still an important [Sheikh](/source/Sheikh) in the [Khalwati order](/source/Khalwati_order).
