Constituency of Bangladesh's Jatiya Sangsad

Narsingdi-2 Constituency for the Jatiya Sangsad District Narsingdi District Division Dhaka Division Electorate 286,218 (2026) Current constituency Created 1984 Parliamentary Party Bangladesh Nationalist Party Member of Parliament Abdul Moyeen Khan ← 199 Narsingdi-1 201 Narsingdi-3 →

**Narsingdi-2** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh).

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses [Palash Upazila](/source/Palash_Upazila) and three [union parishads](/source/Union_parishad) of [Narsingdi Sadar Upazila](/source/Narsingdi_Sadar_Upazila): Amdia, Meher Para, and Panchdona, integrating the area under a single administrative and electoral boundary.[1][2]

## History

The constituency was created in 1984 from the Dhaka-25 constituency when the former Dhaka District was split into six districts: [Manikganj](/source/Manikganj_District), [Munshiganj](/source/Munshiganj_District), [Dhaka](/source/Dhaka_District), [Gazipur](/source/Gazipur_District), [Narsingdi](/source/Narsingdi_District), and [Narayanganj](/source/Narayanganj_District).

Ahead of the [2008 general election](/source/2008_Bangladeshi_general_election), the [Election Commission](/source/Bangladesh_Election_Commission) redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the [2001 Bangladesh census](/source/2001_Bangladesh_census).[3] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[4]

Ahead of the [2014 general election](/source/2014_Bangladeshi_general_election), the Election Commission reduced the boundaries of the constituency. Previously it had included a fourth union parishad of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila: Silmandi.[2][5]
