# Narazeni

**Narazeni** ([Georgian](/source/Georgian_language) and xmf: *ნარაზენი*) is a village in the [Zugdidi Municipality](/source/Zugdidi_Municipality) of [Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti](/source/Samegrelo-Zemo_Svaneti) region of western [Georgia](/source/Georgia_(country)). It is situated 17 km east of the city [Zugdidi](/source/Zugdidi).

## History

The village was on the transit route in the [Silk Road](/source/Silk_Road) period.

During the [Soviet period](/source/Soviet_period), Narazeni was a farming village. There were tea plantations, fruit gardens, and [mandarine](/source/Mandarin_orange) plantations.

Presently, the head of the village is Nana Janjgava (2015-).

## Geography

The village is partly mountainous. The [Chanistskali River](/source/Chanistskali_River) flows through the village.

## Population

As of 2014, the village has a population of 2,345. Narazeni residents speak [Mengrelian](/source/Mengrelian), [Georgian](/source/Georgian_language), [Russian](/source/Russian_language) and a little bit [English](/source/English_language).

## Facilities

In the village there are three schools, a [kindergarten](/source/Kindergarten), [ambulance](/source/Ambulance), police, and a few shops. During the Soviet period a newspaper in the [Megrelian language](/source/Megrelian_language) called "[Narazenish Chai](/source/Narazenish_Chai)" was published in the village.

## Notable citizens

[Eleonora Archaia](/source/Eleonora_Archaia) - (b. 1967) is a Georgian politician and Businesswoman, who is a member of [Kutaisi City Assembly](/source/Kutaisi_City_Assembly).
