**Naogaon-5** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh). Since February 2026, the constituency has been represented by [Md. Zahidul Islam Dhalu](/source/Md._Zahidul_Islam_Dhalu) of the [Bangladesh Nationalist Party](/source/Bangladesh_Nationalist_Party), who was elected in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses [Naogaon Sadar Upazila](/source/Naogaon_Sadar_Upazila).[1][2]

## History

The constituency was created in 1984 from the Rajshahi-8 constituency when the former Rajshahi District was split into four districts: [Nawabganj](/source/Chapai_Nawabganj_District), [Naogaon](/source/Naogaon_District), [Rajshahi](/source/Rajshahi_District), and [Natore](/source/Natore_District).

Abdul Jalil died in March 2013. Abdul Malek of the Awami League was elected unopposed in May 2013 after the [Election Commission](/source/Bangladesh_Election_Commission) disqualified the other five candidates in the by-election scheduled for later that month.[7]
