# Namy

**Namy** (Russian: Намы; sah: Намыы, *Namıı*) is a [rural locality](/source/Types_of_inhabited_localities_in_Russia) (a *[selo](/source/Village#Russia)*), the only inhabited locality, and the [administrative center](/source/Administrative_center) of Borogonsky Rural Okrug of [Bulunsky District](/source/Bulunsky_District) in the [Sakha Republic](/source/Sakha_Republic), [Russia](/source/Russia), located 280 kilometers (170 mi) from [Tiksi](/source/Tiksi), the administrative center of the district.[1] Its population as of the [2010 Census](/source/Russian_Census_(2010)) was 526,[2] up from 488 recorded during the [2002 Census](/source/Russian_Census_(2002)).[1] Philologist [Zoya Basharina](/source/Zoya_Basharina) is a native of the okrug.[3]

## Geography

The village is located north of the Arctic Circle, on the left bank of the [Omoloy](/source/Omoloy), upstream of the mouth of the [Kuranakh-Yuryakh](/source/Kuranakh-Yuryakh).[4][5]

## Climate

Namy has a [Subarctic](/source/Subarctic_climate) or [Boreal](/source/Boreal_ecosystem) ([taiga](/source/Taiga)) climate (*Dfd*).[6]
