== Description ==
At {{convert|19643|ha}} in size and {{convert|42.5|m}} deep, Namew Lake is a large lake surrounded by [boreal forest](/source/Boreal_forest_of_Canada) in Saskatchewan's [Northern Administration District](/source/Northern_Saskatchewan_Administration_District) and Manitoba's [Division No. 21](/source/Division_No._21%2C_Manitoba).

The lake is along the course of the [Sturgeon-Weir River](/source/Sturgeon-Weir_River) in the [Nelson River](/source/Nelson_River) drainage basin. The Sturgeon-Weir River, which has its source to the north at Corneille Lake, is a tributary of the [Saskatchewan River](/source/Saskatchewan_River). == Communities and development ==
Along the northern shore — where the Sturgeon-Weir River flows in — is the community of [Sturgeon Landing](/source/Sturgeon_Landing) and [Sturgeon Weir 184F](/source/Sturgeon_Weir_184F) [Indian reserve](/source/Indian_reserve) of the [Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation](/source/Peter_Ballantyne_Cree_Nation).<ref>{{cite web |title=Sturgeon Landing |url=https://www.peterballantyne.ca/sturgeon-landing/ |publisher=Peter Ballantyne |access-date=25 February 2025}}</ref> Sturgeon Landing Outfitters is an [outfitter](/source/outfitter)s in Sturgeon Landing that has cabins, a convenience store, and hunting and fishing trips.<ref>{{cite web |title=Sturgeon Landing Outfitters |url=https://canadianlodges.com/saskatchewan-fishing-lodges/sturgeon-landing-outfitters |publisher=Canadian Lodges |access-date=25 February 2025}}</ref> On the Manitoba side, is Namew Lake Mine. Namew Lake Road ends at the Saskatchewan border where it becomes Saskatchewan's [Highway 967](/source/Saskatchewan_Highway_967). Highway 967 is a {{convert|5.3|km|adj=on}} long highway that runs from the border into Sturgeon Landing.

There are two former airports on the shores of Namew Lake.
