City in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Iran

**Naghan** ([Persian](/source/Persian_language): ناغان)[a] is a city in, and the capital of, [Naghan District](/source/Naghan_District) in [Kiar County](/source/Kiar_County), [Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari](/source/Chaharmahal_and_Bakhtiari_province) province, [Iran](/source/Iran).[6] It also serves as the administrative center for [Naghan Rural District](/source/Naghan_Rural_District).[7] The village of Naghan was converted to a city in 1994.[3]

The city is populated by [Lurs](/source/Lurs).[8]

### Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 4,928 in 1,210 households, when it was in the [Central District](/source/Central_District_(Ardal_County)) of [Ardal County](/source/Ardal_County).[9] The following census in 2011 counted 4,861 people in 1,345 households,[10] by which time the city and the rural district had been separated from the county in the establishment of [Kiar County](/source/Kiar_County) and transferred to the new [Naghan District](/source/Naghan_District).[6] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 6,125 people in 1,842 households.[4]
