'''Naciria''' (Arabic الناصرية, Kabyle ''Leɛzib n Zeɛmum'') is a town and [commune](/source/Communes_of_Algeria) in [Boumerdès Province](/source/Boumerd%C3%A8s_Province), [Algeria](/source/Algeria), between [Bordj Menaïel](/source/Bordj_Mena%C3%AFel) to the north and the mountain of [Sidi Ali Bounab](/source/Sidi_Ali_Bounab) to the south. According to the 1998 census it has a population of 21,272.<ref>[http://www.statoids.com/ydz.html Statoids]</ref>

==Presentation==
In the early 18th century, the area was known as '''Azib Zaamoum / Leɛzib n Zeɛmum''' ("Zaamoum's farm"), after the [Ben-Zaamoum family](/source/Omar_ben_Zamoum), leaders of the [Iflisen Umellil](/source/Iflisen_Umellil). In 1873, the French government confiscated 2725 hectares of land from the Ouled Chender, Beni Chenacha, and Kobba Sidi Slimane in the wake of the [Mokrani Revolt](/source/Mokrani_Revolt) in order to set up a colony there.<ref>Alain Mahé, 2001, ''Histoire de la Grande Kabylie, XIXe-XXe siècles'', p. 584</ref> This land was given to the ''Société de protection des Alsaciens-Lorrains'' to be allocated to [Alsatians](/source/Alsace) unwilling to live under German rule following the [Franco-Prussian War](/source/Franco-Prussian_War). The resulting town was given the name of '''Haussonvillers''', after [Joseph d'Haussonville](/source/Joseph_d'Haussonville), president of the society in question. After Algeria's independence in 1962, the town was renamed Naciria, after a locally born ALN fighter nicknamed "Si Nacer"; nevertheless, it is still unofficially widely known as Laazib.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.depechedekabylie.com/evenement/52214-la-toponymie-actuelle-de-la-kabylie/ |title=Dépêche de la Kabylie, La toponymie actuelle de la Kabylie |date=27 February 2008 |accessdate=18 July 2019}}</ref>
