== NICE ==
The [acronym](/source/acronym) "NICE" refers to the [National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence](/source/National_Institute_for_Health_and_Clinical_Excellence), a [special health authority](/source/special_health_authority) that was initially responsible for maintaining the evidence search service.<ref name=":0" />  Following the [Health and Social Care Act 2012](/source/Health_and_Social_Care_Act_2012), NICE was renamed the [National Institute for Health and ''Care'' Excellence](/source/National_Institute_for_Health_and_Care_Excellence) and changed from a special health authority to an executive [non-departmental public body](/source/non-departmental_public_body).
