Galaxy in the constellation Boötes

**NGC 5603** is a [lenticular galaxy](/source/Lenticular_galaxy) in the [constellation](/source/Constellation) [Boötes](/source/Bo%C3%B6tes). It was discovered by [William Herschel](/source/William_Herschel) on April 29, 1788 and was observed by [John Herschel](/source/John_Herschel) on May 13, 1828.[1]

## NGC 5739 Group

According to Abraham Mahtessian, NGC 5603 is part of the seven member NGC 5739 [group](/source/Galaxy_group) (also known as [M98j] 234).
