***NASCAR 2000*** is a [racing simulator](/source/Racing_simulator) [video game](/source/Video_game) developed by [Stormfront Studios](/source/Stormfront_Studios) and published by [EA Sports](/source/EA_Sports).

## Publication history

The game was released in 1999 for [Nintendo 64](/source/Nintendo_64) and [PlayStation](/source/PlayStation_(console)) and in 2000 for [Microsoft Windows](/source/Microsoft_Windows) and [Game Boy Color](/source/Game_Boy_Color). The game is based on the [1999 NASCAR Winston Cup Series](/source/1999_NASCAR_Winston_Cup_Series), with [Adam Petty](/source/Adam_Petty)'s [1999 Busch Series](/source/1999_NASCAR_Busch_Series) car and several legends such as [Richard Petty](/source/Richard_Petty) and [Alan Kulwicki](/source/Alan_Kulwicki) also included. The game, along with *[NASCAR 98](/source/NASCAR_98)*, is regarded as one of the best of [EA Sports NASCAR series](/source/EA_Sports_NASCAR_series) of video games. It was the last game for [PC](/source/Personal_computer) until *[NASCAR Thunder 2003](/source/NASCAR_Thunder_2003)*. This game was the fourth title of the series.

The Windows version of the game includes manufacturer branding on the cars.

The soundtrack to the game features instrumental versions of songs from the [Blues Traveler](/source/Blues_Traveler) album [Save His Soul](/source/Save_His_Soul).

Doug Trueman of *[NextGen](/source/Next_Generation_(magazine))* said that the PlayStation version "would have been a terrific title several years ago, but now it looks and sounds incredibly dated."[32]

Michael Lafferty of *GameZone* gave the PC version nine out of ten, calling it "an adrenaline rush."[37] However, Ash of *[GamePro](/source/GamePro)* said that the Nintendo 64 version "has a lot going for it, but it just couldn't close out the race."[38][b]
