***Myriochapsa*** is a [genus](/source/Genus) of [corticolous](/source/Corticolous_lichen) (bark-dwelling), [crustose lichens](/source/Crustose_lichen) in the subfamily Graphidoidae of the family [Graphidaceae](/source/Graphidaceae). It has three species.[1] The genus was [circumscribed](/source/Circumscription_(taxonomy)) in 2013 by Marcela Cáceres, [Robert Lücking](/source/Robert_L%C3%BCcking), and [H. Thorsten Lumbsch](/source/Helge_Thorsten_Lumbsch), with the Brazilian *[Myriochapsa psoromica](/source/Myriochapsa_psoromica)* assigned as the [type species](/source/Type_species). The generic name combines *[Myriotrema](/source/Myriotrema)* and *[Chapsa](/source/Chapsa)*, referring to the two Graphidaceae genera that it resembles. The main distinguishing characteristics of the new genus are its densely corticate [thallus](/source/Thallus), and the presence of the [lichen product](/source/Lichen_product) [psoromic acid](/source/Psoromic_acid). Additionally, its [apothecia](/source/Apothecium) have wider pores, with differently textured margins.[2] Although originally created as a [monotypic](/source/Monotypic) genus, [Harrie Sipman](/source/Harrie_Sipman) added two South American species in 2014.[3]
