The best known musician from the [Occitan](/source/Occitania) region of [Limousin](/source/Limousin_(r%C3%A9gion)) is probably the piper [Eric Montbel](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eric_Montbel&action=edit&redlink=1), a former member of such bands as [Lo Jai](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lo_Jai&action=edit&redlink=1), [Le Grand Rouge](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Le_Grand_Rouge&action=edit&redlink=1), and [Ulysse](/source/Ulysse); he plays the *chabreta*, or Limousin [bagpipe](/source/Bagpipe). Along with him and other pipers, the region is known for [Corrèze](/source/Corr%C3%A8ze)'s distinct [violin](/source/Violin) tradition as well as the [hurdy-gurdy](/source/Hurdy-gurdy). The [fife](/source/Fife_(musical_instrument)) is also popular.
