# Mururaju

**Mururaju**,[1][2] **Murrorajo**[3] or **Pongos Sur**[1][4] is a mountain in the [Cordillera Blanca](/source/Cordillera_Blanca) in the [Andes](/source/Andes) of [Peru](/source/Peru), about 5,688 metres (18,661 ft) high.[3] It is situated in the [Ancash Region](/source/Ancash_Region), [Huari Province](/source/Huari_Province), [Chavín de Huantar District](/source/Chav%C3%ADn_de_Huantar_District) and in the [Recuay Province](/source/Recuay_Province), [Catac District](/source/Catac_District).[5] Mururaju lies southeast of [Lake Querococha](/source/Lake_Querococha), northeast of the lake [Qishqiqucha](/source/Qishqiqucha) and south of [Queshque](/source/Queshque).[3]

The [Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV)](/source/Austrian_Alpine_Club) survey map gives this mountain the name of *Pongos*.[6]
