The **Mughob** ([Russian](/source/Russian_language): Мугоб, [Tajik](/source/Tajik_language): Муғоб; until 31 July, 2023 **muksu**)[1] is a west-flowing river in northeastern [Tajikistan](/source/Tajikistan). It is a tributary of the [Vakhsh](/source/Vakhsh_(river)) which in turn is a tributary of the [Amu Darya](/source/Amu_Darya). The river is 88 kilometres (55 mi) long and has a basin area of 7,070 square kilometres (2,730 mi2).[2] It is formed at the confluence of the rivers [Seldara](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Seldara&action=edit&redlink=1) (draining the [Vanch-Yakh Glacier](/source/Vanch-Yakh_Glacier)) and [Sauksay](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sauksay&action=edit&redlink=1) (draining the [Saukdara Glaciers](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Saukdara_Glaciers&action=edit&redlink=1)), near [Altyn Mazar](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Altyn_Mazar&action=edit&redlink=1). The north side of its valley is the [Trans-Alay Range](/source/Trans-Alay_Range) and the south side is formed by the [Peter I Range](/source/Peter_I_Range) and the [Academy of Sciences Range](/source/Academy_of_Sciences_Range). It joins the Kyzyl-Suu (which drains the [Alay Valley](/source/Alay_Valley)) to form the Surkhob or Vakhsh. At Altyn Mazar there is a pass leading north to [Daroot-Korgon](/source/Daroot-Korgon) in the Alay Valley.
