# Mug Corb

**Mug Corb** ("servant of the chariot", sometimes called **Mac Corb**, "son of the chariot"), son of Cobthach Cáem, son of [Rechtaid Rígderg](/source/Rechtaid_R%C3%ADgderg), was, according to medieval Irish legend and historical tradition, a [High King of Ireland](/source/High_King_of_Ireland). He took power when he killed his predecessor, [Meilge Molbthach](/source/Meilge_Molbthach). He ruled for six years, until he was killed by [Óengus Ollom](/source/%C3%93engus_Ollom), grandson of [Labraid Loingsech](/source/Labraid_Loingsech).[1] He is said to have got his name when he repaired a broken chariot for his son.[2] The *[Lebor Gabála Érenn](/source/Lebor_Gab%C3%A1la_%C3%89renn)* synchronises his reign with that of [Ptolemy III Euergetes](/source/Ptolemy_III_Euergetes) of [Egypt](/source/Ptolemaic_Egypt) (246–222 BC). The chronology of [Geoffrey Keating](/source/Geoffrey_Keating)'s *Foras Feasa ar Éirinn* dates his reign to 362–355 BC,[2] the *[Annals of the Four Masters](/source/Annals_of_the_Four_Masters)* to 506–499 BC.[3]
