His parents were born in [Gunaroš](/source/Gunaro%C5%A1) in today's [Vojvodina](/source/Vojvodina), [Serbia](/source/Serbia). His family moved from Yugoslavia to [Hungary](/source/Hungary) when he was two years old. Gyorio moved to Canada with his parents when he was a small child, settling in [Stratford, Prince Edward Island](/source/Stratford%2C_Prince_Edward_Island).
