Formerly called **Notch Mountain**, it is named after [Daniel Webster](/source/Daniel_Webster) (1782–1852), and is the south-westernmost of the [Presidential Range](/source/Presidential_Range) of the [White Mountains](/source/White_Mountains_(New_England)). Mount Webster is flanked to the northeast by [Mount Jackson](/source/Mount_Jackson_(New_Hampshire)); to the southwest it faces [Mount Willey](/source/Mount_Willey) across [Crawford Notch](/source/Crawford_Notch). The west face of Mount Webster drains directly into the [Saco River](/source/Saco_River), thence into the [Gulf of Maine](/source/Gulf_of_Maine) at [Saco, Maine](/source/Saco%2C_Maine). The north and southeast faces drain into the Saco via Silver Cascade and Webster Brook respectively. Mount Webster is on the western boundary of the Presidential Range - Dry River Wilderness.
